This was an interesting brief, to create 3 characters whos faces couldn't be tracked or recognised by facial recognition software. They needed to have some form of human featues but not as we normaly recognise them.

I started with a 3D modelled concept based on greyscale height maps created from multiple overlayed facial scans and then progressed to a 3d print. I then went on to hand forming the bucks in a combination of 3d print and polyester/MDF

The end use would be taking a number of forms. They would be worn initially for promotional events and photo shoots so had to be lightweight, for this we chose vacuum forming, they were mounted on a modified safety mask frame so could be worn for extended periods.

Ultimately these would be sold as individual art pieces in their own right.

For this the finish had to be flawless so we chose glassfibre.
