First step is working out a clear brief for what you need. Face to face or on-site is ideal but remote works too depending on the job. I have clients all over the UK and Internationally.

Initially we’ll discuss your needs, throw some ideas around and I can suggest the best solution. Don’t worry if you don’t know what you want, part of what makes this fun is working that out!

I enjoy going on a creative journey with you. Often clients really don’t know what they want they just have a problem or a germ of an idea and I love working with them and seeing that grow into something magical that combines beautiful form and perfect function.

Once I have an idea of your requirements I can begin to suggest a few routes and give you some costings and expected timescales. Everything will be clearly laid out and you’ll know exactly what to expect.

If you’re happy with the quote I’ll begin the creative process and start to work on some ideas. This usually takes the form of a visual, that can be anything from a basic sketch, a 3d computer generated model, a 3d print or a scale mockup.

Usually I will do some basic renderings and we’ll discuss and refine these until you’re happy.

I can provide samples of materials, paint and surface finishes and you’ll be kept informed and updated all the way though.

Only once everything is approved do I begin work. Depending on the job, components and functionality will be tested and approved in stages. If you want to visit during the process or see updates that’s fine, but most people just want the big reveal. So far it has always resulted in a big smile!

If it’s a restoration then we can decide on exactly what is required and how far you want to go with it, does it need to run or is it just for display?

Do you want it looking brand new or is there an original patina you would like to preserve?

So many options here, is it a shopfront or some traditional signage? A recreation of something iconic or existing or is it just purely decorative.

We can work up some ideas for approval and I can even mock them up in situ. Will it be paint or gold/silver/copper leaf, on timber, metal or reversed on glass?

The world is literally your oyster here, but it will all be done by hand in the traditional way and will look beautiful to boot.

As you can see my work is extremely varied, everything I produce is bespoke and made to order.

I will always quote in advance and work is never started until you are completely happy with the price.

I do have different rates depending on the requirements and the complexity involved. A basic restoration or simple fabrication would be charged at an hourly rate of £75, more complex design and development work is charged at £100 an hour. These prices are plus materials. Projects often require a combination of the two but you will be made fully aware of this at the time of quoting and everything will be itemised.
