The Rocketbrand chair came out of the frustration that every parent has that kids just want to swing on chairs! I decided to fix the problem and make something fun at the same time. The design of the single rear leg means it's impossible to swing back on it. If the child tries to lean back the chair just slowly slides backwards. Clearly it needed a matching table so I designed one of those too! Let's face it, who wouldn't want to eat their Coco Pops sitting in a space rocket.
The prototype was made from 18mm mdf and polyester and sprayed with easy clean satin two pack paint. When my daughter came along she obviously had to have one to match her big brother's so she got her own smaller version. These are still going strong 15 years later but mainly get used for footstools now! Charlie Croker can make these in any size or colour and they were designed to be injection moulded in ABS so that is an option for mass production too.
