The Meantime Brewing Company in Greenwich required a number of items for their new bar and restaurant The Old Brewery. One of which was a stylish way to display their menus and promotional material on each table. It had to work equally well outdoors in a potentially very windy riverside location so anything off the shelf wouldn't work.
I designed and handmade 50 of these "table talkers" from heavyweight copper pipe. They paid homage to the sites brewing heritage and the multitude of copper pipework on the on-site brewing tanks. Each one had a hidden grooved oak insert so the menu would stay verticalThe legs were fitted with a pvc bung to stop them acting as sails and sliding about on the polished outdoor zinc tables. They were left in a natural finish and have developed a lovely patina with age. These are still going strong last time I visited but a few have apparently "walked" as they became quite a wanted item. The only downside to making them too nice!
