The Victorian Walled Garden at Water Lane is a very special place. A beautiful original setting housing a restaurant, a garden and a shop. It's a hidden gem down a secluded lane and customers have always struggled to find it. The existing signage was showing it's age and very much in need of an update

The design solution had to work in multiple formats and locations. A large multi-board entrance sign, small verge side locators, additional panels on existing posts through to car park signs and an updatable notice board.

It also had to be flexible and allow for one-off special events without leaving blank boards at other times. It had to stand out but compliment the existing private school signs that share the entrance road.

The solution I came up with was constructed from laser cut mild steel panels mounted on a box section frame. Not the norm these days when everything is usually made from aluminium composite or stainless steel but using mild steel means magnetic overlays can be used for the special events, they are simply dropped over the existing panels, no fixings or adjustment required, the soft plastic backing won't damage the panel beneath. When not in use they can be rolled for storage.

The signs also have to work in a double sided format if required and not look untidy when viewed from the back. Hence the use of the decorative brass fittings at the rear. The finish is a custom mix satin Pantone matched 2k epoxy.

Customer feedback has been excellent and more signs have been comissioned.
